Mental Health Registered Nurse - Dual-Diagnosis

Location: Swan Hill or Mildura campus
Hours: Permanent Full Time or Part Time
Salary: $50/hr + Super & NFP Salary Packaging
Start Date: ASAP

About the Role:
We’re seeking a compassionate and autonomous Dual-Diagnosis Registered Nurse to support clients experiencing co-occurring mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) concerns.

This is a unique opportunity to work within a culturally safe, community-focused environment delivering holistic and recovery-oriented care. The role combines mental health nursing, addiction support, counselling, case management, crisis intervention, and community outreach.

You’ll work closely with the Clinical Coordinator and Social & Emotional Wellbeing team while also having the autonomy to manage your own caseload and work independently across both clinic and community settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake mental health and AOD screening, assessments, and intake
  • Provide counselling, therapeutic support, and recovery-focused case management
  • Apply harm minimisation strategies, crisis intervention, and risk management practices
  • Facilitate referrals to specialist mental health, rehabilitation, and withdrawal services
  • Conduct community outreach and home visits across the local region
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external service providers
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and care planning
  • Support culturally safe and trauma-informed models of care
Requirements:
  • AHPRA Registered Nurse
  • 1–2 years experience within Mental Health nursing
  • Understanding of Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD)
  • Current Driver’s Licence
Desirable:
  • Experience working within Aboriginal communities or rural & remote settings
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and recovery-based frameworks
  • Previous AOD experience highly regarded

Deliver holistic and culturally safe services that empower individuals, families, and communities throughout the Mallee region.

The clinic offers a small, collaborative team environment consisting of a GP, Clinical Coordinator, Practice Manager, and Social & Emotional Wellbeing team. This role will be the dedicated Dual Diagnosis/AOD Nurse for the site while collaborating closely with the broader Mildura-based team.
