About the Role:
We’re seeking a compassionate and autonomous Dual-Diagnosis Registered Nurse to support clients experiencing co-occurring mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) concerns.
This is a unique opportunity to work within a culturally safe, community-focused environment delivering holistic and recovery-oriented care. The role combines mental health nursing, addiction support, counselling, case management, crisis intervention, and community outreach.
You’ll work closely with the Clinical Coordinator and Social & Emotional Wellbeing team while also having the autonomy to manage your own caseload and work independently across both clinic and community settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake mental health and AOD screening, assessments, and intake
- Provide counselling, therapeutic support, and recovery-focused case management
- Apply harm minimisation strategies, crisis intervention, and risk management practices
- Facilitate referrals to specialist mental health, rehabilitation, and withdrawal services
- Conduct community outreach and home visits across the local region
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external service providers
- Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and care planning
- Support culturally safe and trauma-informed models of care
- AHPRA Registered Nurse
- 1–2 years experience within Mental Health nursing
- Understanding of Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD)
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Experience working within Aboriginal communities or rural & remote settings
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice and recovery-based frameworks
- Previous AOD experience highly regarded
- 17.5% annual leave loading

The clinic offers a small, collaborative team environment consisting of a GP, Clinical Coordinator, Practice Manager, and Social & Emotional Wellbeing team. This role will be the dedicated Dual Diagnosis/AOD Nurse for the site while collaborating closely with the broader Mildura-based team.
